Tournament Resources and Suggestions

01

The NAF

First thing is to make sure you’re familiar with the NAF and are a member.
Players don’t have to be NAF members, but organizers do.

02

Tournament Software

There are many options for how to run your tournament. From Tourplay, to SCORE, to even doing your own spreadsheets.
We HIGHLY recommend using BBTM.app as your software. It’s simple, reliable and easy to use.

03

Ruleset

Rulesets can vary drastically from one event to another. We recommend reviewing some other local events or large events and see if it fits your style.
Don’t be afraid from doing your own thing, just be aware that some people may not be interested in your event based on the ruleset alone.

04

Location

This is wide open. Many BB events have been held in game stores, bars, breweries, castles, outside, anyhwere you can think of hold one.
Make sure to contact the place you want to hold it well in advance to make sure the date is free.

05

Players

The heart of the game are those who play it. The sooner you can schedule the event, the more time you have to promote it and get people interested.
Facebook is a great resource for this, but also with the event being NAF approved, it will be posted on the USA Discord.
Check it out here!

06

Awards

If it’s your first time, it might be best to do paper certificates that you can do cost effectively, but as you get bigger and get more guarantee of attendance, then you can graduate to 3D printed trophies, home made ones, professional ones or anything you want! Each event does their own rewards.
That being said, the NAF has trophies for certain events meeting their criteria. More info <HERE>

07

Giveaways

Most tournaments do at least custom dice (find more info on that in Resources) but many don’t stop there.
You can do custom figures, custom teams, pitches, dice cups. People love getting new things, but don’t go overboard and put yourself in debt.

08

Sportsmanship

Much of the strength of the community comes from the fun people have and the great people who attend.
All events should do their best to adhere to making events as open and friendly as possible.
We want to grow and build the community, so having welcoming organizers and players is important to these goals.

09

Questions?

Whether it’s your first event or 100th, everyone has questions sometimes. Don’t be afraid to reach out to other Organizers, NAF reps or players.
Everyone is very happy to assist and will do their best to make your experience the best it can be.
